Hey y’all! It’s my first Stitch Fix Review of the year! If you want to see what I received in my earlier Fixes, you can check out those reviews here and here. It’s been about two months since my second Fix and I was so excited to pick up my package and see what they sent me this time around. If diversifying or branching out with your wardrobe was a New Year’s resolution, I highly recommend checking it out.
If you already know how this service works, just scroll on down to “The Goods.” If not, here’s a brief description to give you some background.
Stitch Fix is an on-line company who pretty much provides each client with their own personal stylist. You sign up and submit detailed notes about your style preferences, measurements, ideal price points, sizes, special requests, etc. and then they send you a box with 5 pieces based on your profile. You have 3 days to try on the clothes and decide if you want to keep or return. Each fix has a $20 styling fee and shipping is free both ways (yay!) If you buy any of the items, the $20 is applied to your purchase. If you love all of your items, you can purchase all five and also receive 25% off the entire order. Some veteran Stitch Fixers have said that even if you don’t like all of your picks, sometimes it ends up being cheaper to just buy all 5 pieces!
It’s important to know that they currently have inventory for women’s sizes 0-14. They’re a fairly new company and are hoping to offer more inventory at plus sizes/maternity in the future. You can send them your measurements and they will contact you if they don’t have enough inventory in your size.
Fix #3- The Goods
1. Roger Asymmetrical Zipper Jacket by Sweet Rain, $78
This was the first item I pulled out of my Fix. I was a little nervous at first because my friend received a similar jacket and it ended up looking like a straightjacket. It turns out that it’s actually pretty cute on! If it wasn’t $78, I would have bought it in a heartbeat. I love this asymmetrical zipper and the fun neckline. It was warm and also very soft and comfortable. The maroon color is really rich in person and I already own many things that would go with it. If you’re a big jacket person and you get this in a Fix, I would totally recommend it. Living in Houston, it’s a little harder for me to justify more jackets. 🙂
2. Beth Eyelet Fit & Flare Dress by Eight Sixty, $68
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this dress. You can’t really see it from the picture, but this dress has the most gorgeous eyelet pattern. The deep eggplant purple color is so beautiful and I love the long sleeves. There’s a slight scoop in the back and the details are just so fun. I’ve paired it here with a wide belt, but I think it would also look good with narrower belts as well. The lightweight material makes this dress especially great for Houston weather as it can be 70 one day and 50 the next, this time of year. Tights and boots will pair just as nicely on those colder days!
I’m really glad my stylist picked this dress because I’m not sure I would have tried it on at the store. I was hopeful when I tried it on, but prepared for it to not be very flattering. So glad this one worked out in the end!
3. Moni Stud Detailed 3/4 Sleeve Blouse by 41Hawthorn, $58 & Sabrina Denim Leggings by Dear John, $78
I’m wearing both the Hawthorn top and the Sabrina denim leggings in black here. Let’s start with the top. I can already tell this is going to be one of my new favorite go-to items in my closet. This blue is vibrant and fun and the studded details around the chest and the bottoms of the sleeves add an interesting edge to an otherwise classic shirt. When I opened this Fix, this was really the only item that immediately said “This is a Helen Top.” Comfort is big for me and I like that the fit is loose but still fitted enough to keep it from looking sloppy. I don’t think I would normally pay $58 for a top like this, but I decided to splurge this time.

Now, on to the leggings. Hmmm, these leggings were cute, but there was nothing extraordinary about them. They were just your basic, black denim leggings. I have never tried anything on from the Dear John brand, but I they seemed like they were good quality. I like them well enough and the price isn’t bad, but I already own several pairs just like them.

4. Paltrow Stretch Lace Hi-Lo Peplum Top by Tart, $48
In the words of George Takei, “Oh myyyy.” Hmmm… :/ Where do I start? Yeesh. Well, the peplum trend is one that I’ve always wanted to try. I’ve tried on what seems like a million peplum pieces and I just haven’t found one that looked good on me. Case in point? Let’s discuss this hi-lo peplum top by Tart. You can’t see the back of this top, but it is longer in the back. The color was gorgeous and the exposed zipper on the back was totally my style. The lace pattern was delicate and feminine and totally up my alley. Unfortunately, this beautiful piece just wasn’t meant for me. It was unflattering in a few too many places and it’s too bad because I really wanted this one to work. Also, you can’t beat the price! Oh well, I’m sure this top will look good on the next Stitch Fix Girl. For now, I’m saying au revoir to peplum tops. Moving on in ’14. 🙂
Well folks, Stitch Fix #3 was fun. I liked the variety of items that I received this time and the colors were spot on. My stylist definitely paid attention to my Pinterest board and found things that were very similar to things that I have been admiring for sometime. Last time, you may recall that I purchased all of my items. Purchasing all five items is fun as you get 25% off your entire item. Even if you don’t LOVE all five items, sometimes it just makes better sense to keep all 5 pieces and get a better deal. In this case, I’m just as happy with my two purchases. I’ve already got some plans for both pieces and look forward to my next Fix coming in March!
If you like what you see and want to give it a try, you can sign up here. I have not been paid or received any benefits from Stitch Fix for this review. If you sign up through one of the links on this post, I will receive a sweet $25 credit to Stitch Fix when your fix ships. I hope you enjoy your experience as much as I have!
