Mother’s Day Gift Giving Series
Part V: Fun Things for All Moms
5 Mother’s Day Gift Giving Ideas for All Moms
1. Book of the Month Bundle
Perfect for all bookworm moms out there! Consider purchasing 12 books and wrapping each one individually in bright colored paper with a tag showing the corresponding month . It’s truly the gift that keeps on giving as mom will be reminded of your thoughtfulness throughout the year.
Bonus ways to make it creative:
1) Write a little note about why you chose each book.
2) Create some adorable bookmarks and include them in your gift.
3) Add variety! (Think cookbooks, children’s books (for moms who are also grandmas), style books, crafts, etc.)
2.Tickets to an Upcoming Play, Musical, Performance
Treat mom and dad/a friend/family member to a night on the town with tickets to an upcoming play, musical or performance that you know she would be interested in! If your mom is really into going to the shows, consider going in on a group gift with siblings to get season passes. For Houston folks, try checking out some of the places below for some awesome options!
- A.D. Players Theater
- Alley Theatre
- House of Blues
- Houston Ballet
- Houston Grand Opera
- Houston Symphony
- Main Street Theater
- SPA Houston
3. Unique Vase with Flowers
Some of you may be thinking “flowers are so cliche,” but have you ever really known too many people that resent receiving a beautiful bouquet? There’s no denying the effect a breathtaking bouquet can have on a room or someone’s mood. Get creative this Mother’s Day and find a unique vase that your mom will love for years to come. Bonus: include a gift certificate to a floral arranging class or a book on flowers!
4. Custom Photo Gift
Moms with children of all ages love having photos of their family and will always appreciate your efforts into making a custom photo gift. Whether they be portraits, brag books, calendars, pillows, or mugs, there are options for everyone and in every price range. I use Snapfish for all of my photo storing needs, but there are several great on-line resources for your custom photo gifts including Shutterfly, tinyprints, CVS, Walgreen’s, etc. Photo gifts are also great if you have multiple moms to purchase for in your family. For example, perhaps your family calendar will work well for your mom as well as your sister who is also a mom. Your gift giving just got a lot simpler and with quick shipping or in-store pickup, you’re well on your way to Mother’s Day shopping success! A few of my favorite photo gift options are below:
5. Smart Phone Wristlet
Sometimes there are just those days when you want to leave the 20 lb purse behind and just take the essentials: keys, cell phone, ID, and a credit card or cash. Moms on the go will appreciate a chic smart phone wristlet that will give them the freedom to get out the door and on their way in a flash. With plenty of designers and major retailers offering their takes on the smart phone wristlet, you’ll be sure to find something that matches your mom’s style.
Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn’t share the names of a few of my favorite stores and boutiques for gifts in the Houston area. Happy shopping!
