Hope you had a great 4th of July weekend! Our weekend festivities started off with some exciting news! After weeks of waiting, Brent and I had our 20-week anatomy ultrasound appointment on Thursday! We were so excited to see our baby again and were praying for good news of a healthy baby. The other big thing on our mind: Is this baby a boy or a girl? Throughout this pregnancy, we were both thinking “BOY” and referred to Baby S as a “he.” Were we right? We were about to find out.
Always ones for a bit of fun, we decided to do a little gender reveal at home. We didn’t want to go the party route, but we did want some element of surprise as well. Enter tiny pinatas. I came across this adorable idea on Pinterest and thought it would be perfect for us. The tutorial from Bubbly Nature Creations was pretty easy and they were fun to make! (Note: While you can totally buy confetti that’s already made, I opted for the DIY option using three different shades of pink and blue tissue paper. I was going for the ombre effect and thought the metallic colors added a little something as well.) You can find all of the materials you will need at your local craft store.
We took our pinatas to our appointment so that the sonographer could put the right pinatas in our “to use” bag ensuring we were using the right ones! In order to prevent us from accidentally seeing something, she turned the screen away from us for part of the ultrasound. She was sweet to help us and even stapled the bag shut to prevent peeking! 🙂
Our original plan was to have our little reveal in the backyard, but the weather had other plans. One of Houston’s famous downpours swept in and we had to move everything indoors.
So, without further ado, here we go!
There you have it. Our family will be welcoming a girl this fall and we couldn’t be happier! Special thanks to Brent’s mom, Teri, for taking these wonderful photos and for going to our appointment with us. It was truly such a special day!
